Raw herbs - this type of herbal preparation is closest to its original form. The blend is decocted in hot water and taken as a tea in 2-3 doses throughout the day.

Granule or powder - this is extracted herbal material that is turned into a powder (granule). You then add hot water to the powder and drink as a tea. A bottle of granule is easy to carry around compared to the raw form which can require a bit more effort.

Capsule or tablet - this is the extracted herbal powder/granule put into a capsule or in the case of the tablet, pressed into tablet form.

Tincture - this is a distillation method whereby the herbal formula is extracted into a base of alcohol or vegetable glycerin. This method is suitable for children (as well as adults) as it's more palatable and easier to swallow than a capsule.

Teapill - these are tiny bead looking pills that are extracted at low temperatures to help retain the herb's active ingredients.

Herbal patch - this is a topical patch that contains herbs to address muscle and joint pain.

Liniment - another topical herbal blend that is either liquid or cream to address musculoskeletal pain.

The herbs used in my practice are all GMP certified. This means they go through testing and chemical analyses to ensure their safety. The herbs are examined for impurities such as pesticides and heavy metals.
